~Doreen Massey~
The main objectives of the program are:
To promote scientific knowledge and research in the aforementioned fields.
To ensure that the postgraduate education provided is aligned with international standards in the relevant scientific disciplines, research specializations, and professional fields.
To align postgraduate education with the specific developmental needs of the country and its particular spatial challenges.
To train research professionals equipped with modern, competitive knowledge for the integrated European and global labor market.
Facilities / Infrastructure
The Department of Geography is housed in a building with a total area of approximately 5,000 m², located on University Hill — the campus situated on the outskirts of Mytilene. The department’s infrastructure is continuously being upgraded with the aim of developing and equipping state-of-the-art educational and research laboratories that support the study of the diverse thematic fields of Geography.
All classrooms are fully equipped to accommodate modern teaching methods. In addition, the building includes three (3) specially designed rooms for teleconferencing and distance learning, suitable for the delivery of postgraduate courses as well as the public presentation of master’s theses.
The University of the Aegean provides all students with a personal email account, which they may use as their official electronic address. Furthermore, students are granted access — via their personal login credentials — to the online educational platforms (e-class, Moodle, ΒΒΒ) used by teaching staff to enhance and better organize the educational process. These platforms create a dynamic environment of interaction and continuous communication between instructors and students. They also allow students to access course materials uploaded by instructors, regardless of time and location.
Technical support for the Master’s Program is provided daily from 09:00 to 21:00 by the Department’s technical staff, covering all course hours.
